You know…I just blogged something in which I affirmed a quote from White Oleander (by Janet Fitch): “Loneliness is the human condition.”

I’m thinking about it now and I’m not so sure I agree.

Yes; I agree that it is good to be alone at times…to be dependent upon yourself at least for a time. However, I believe that humans were not made to stand by themselves in a crowded room with no one really seeing them. Humans were created to partake in community with one another. We are all interconnected. We are the individual leaves of grass that are all connected by the same root system that Walt Whitman talks about.

From a Christian standpoint, I have to say that loneliness is the sin condition. If we walk in step with Christ, we do not have to ever be earth-shatteringly lonely because our God is ever-present. Not to mention the community that comes from being a member of the body of Christ.

So yes. People are generally lonely. No; they do not have to be.

People will see You if you allow Yourself to be seen.

  • gatsby: hey i just met you
  • gatsby: and this is crazy
  • gatsby: but i'm going to spend most of my life and wealth in an attempt to pursue you for your stunning vapidness and the warped image of yourself created in my mind as a precursor to my eventual fall

Four more days of class and then I’m done with high school. Stuff just got real.

FACT: The number of students who have to go into debt to get a bachelor’s degree has risen from 45% in 1993 to 94% today.

Neverland: Second Star to the right and straight on til morning!

I am going to get this tattoo one day. It will happen. It reminds me to a) stay young at heart and b) have the faith of a child and c)how fantastic Peter Pan is

I was Peter Pan in my last ever high school production: Tell Me a Faerie Story. This role meant a lot more to me than I thought it would. I loved everything about it. We did the scene just after Wendy and the Lost Boys decide to go home and grow up. Peter falls asleep, during which time Wendy and the Lost Boys are kidnapped by Hook’s men and Hook poisons Peter’s medicine. Later in the scene, Peter goes to drink his medicine despite Tinkerbell’s warnings of the poison. Tink gets between Peter’s lips and the medicine, drinks it, and begins to die because children no longer believe in fairies. Peter appeals to all the children who might be dreaming of Neverland—telling them to clap their hands if they believe in fairies. Finally, Tink is revived through the children’s belief. Peter lets out a marvelous crow and goes off to save Wendy.

It really was way too much fun.
